More about this Audi TT

Ref:X246 MAP SMC Heritage are proud to present another incredible low mileage Mk1 TT 225 Quattro. This incredible “as new” example is finished in Denim Blue Metallic paint and has covered just over 8000 miles with fascinating provenance. MK1 TT (Type 8N) Background: Few cars have managed the transition from concept to production model quite as successfully as the Audi TT. Created by the VW Group Design Centre in California with Porsche firmly in their sights, the concept car was first unveiled at the 1995 Frankfurt motor show. The world was aghast and three years later, even more remarkably little had changed when it made its production debut in September 1998. The world loved it and sales soared, the TT was the boutique car of choice for the late 90’s and early 00’s and a design icon was born Autocar was impressed, describing it as ‘one of Audi’s most engaging machines in recent times… a handling sensation next to its other performance cars… more alive than any Audi we’ve driven since the original quattro’. With a little help from ABT the TT also became a successful racer, Frenchman Laurent Aïello winning the DTM title in 2002 beating Bernd Schneider in the legendary AMG CLK DTM. Another TT claimed 3rd place piloted by Mattias Ekström in the #9 car. The #9 TT-R now lives on digitally as a Grand Turismo legend featuring in every title. Technology and Tradition The TT name has also been attributed to the phrase "Technology & Tradition” This is very apt given the then state of the art and previously unseen laser beam welding techniques used in its production to enable its seamless styling. Whilst it is also a nod to the historic successes of both NSU and DKW in the Isle of Man TT. Both companies later merged into the company now known as Audi Provenance: Built in 2000 to UK RHD specification at Audi’s Gyor plant it was supplied new by SMC-Biler of Esbjerg Denmark but for UK first registration to Danish former oil trader and now legendary London fashion magnate Ole Peder Bertelsen. The exact reasoning for the vehicle coming from Esbjerg are unclear, waiting lists for TT’s where certainly huge at this time but its improbable that a man as well connected as Mr Bertelsen couldn’t get his hands on the must have car of the day. We do however know that he originally came from Esbjerg and the delivery was timed around his 70th Birthday in late 2000 so perhaps it was simply a nostalgic decision to have the car from his home town. The vehicle was specified the vehicle in Denim Blue Metallic (LZ5W) with matching Blue (N5D/JP) Valcona leather. He would go on to keep the vehicle for the next 18 years although it would be placed SORN from 2015 until his unfortunate passing in 2018. At this point the vehicle was transferred to his wife. Post layup the vehicle was recommissioned including: 4 new tyres, timing belt and waterpump, new alternator, new battery and a haldex overhaul. Offered with incredibly low miles supported by a fully documented ownership and a history file of invoices for maintenance, old MOTs, Tax discs and even the Danish delivery and PDI paperwork this really is as good as it gets. Exterior: The Denim Blue metallic paint is incredible with a deep glossy shine. The panel gaps are even and totally original. The wheels are totally original, unmarked and un-refurbished. The tyres are new matching Toyos the originals were replaced due to age not wear. All badges, glass and trim are original and unmarked and factory stickers remain including under the rear spoiler. Evidently this car has always been garaged and it absolutely shows. Interior: The interior is a fabulous place to reside with factory blue leather and that iconic dash. The seats, carpets, mats and every piece of trim are absolutely factory fresh even the metal gear knob is totally unmarked. The switchgear is all undamaged and fully functional and the dash pod illuminates correctly with no missing LEDs of faulty readings. This is a truly time warp car. Overview: In incredible condition and with just over 8,000 miles documented this really is as new and offers a fantastic entry in to modern classic ownership as either a depreciation proof low mileage daily driver, a weekend toy to polish, show and enjoy or perhaps most likely a solid investment piece to add to your collection. The TT was tipped in the Hagerty 2021 Bull Market list with the Lexus LFA and Ferrari Testarossa for Company. Incredibly TT value checks have increased by 175% in the last 6 Months . If you are looking for one of the very best examples of a truly ground breaking design icon or just looking for a shrewd future classic investment then you need to see this car. The vehicle will be MOT’d and fully service by SMC Heritage prior to collection for complete peace of mind £19,995 Open by appointment only please call us on 01244 539760 or 07890 000145 or 07710 096345 We are always looking for high quality, low mileage classic and modern classic cars and bikes with good service history from the early 60s to the mid 00’s.
