More about this BMW 2002 Turbo

Ref: CVN 78L SMC Heritage are proud to present this incredible Inca Orange 1973 BMW 2002 Touring Restomod. The SMC Heritage collection is a celebration of the best of the best of modern classics whereas SMC Automotive’s forte is very much modification. Sometimes the best of both of these worlds meet, and that is SMC Atelier. We are proud to put the SMC Atelier label on this incredible 2002. The terms Restomod and OEM Plus are often used to describe vehicles but seldom are they more appropriate. Built at no expense spared to fast road spec with only the very best and rarest parts with incredible show stopping attention to detail. Provenance (the base car): When putting your heart and soul and significant investment into a project it makes absolute sense to start with the very best base you can find. Consequently a clean, low mileage, solid example with history dating all the way back to the 1980’s was found for the project, crucially this car was also fully hpi clear with no stories. Supplied new on the 15th Feb 1973 on an L registration. With documented low miles and ownership, it really was a lovely useable example and therefore the perfect base for the next stage of its life. Exterior: The bodywork was entrusted to an award-winning BMW approved bodyshop who under took a photo documented complete strip down to bare metal, every mm of the shell and body was painstakingly inspected and the front end smoothed in preperation for a front bumper delete before a flawless respray in Period correct Inca Orange with a subtle Alpina pinstripe. Interestingly this was the colour scheme used for the original 2002 brochures and launch. This is no budget quick blow over, the paintwork is concourse standard. Upgrades include: Period Alpina style alloys shod with as new Goodyear tyres, All new rubbers, New front and rear lights indicators and badges. Needless to say, the results are stunning, Interior: The interior is total retro perfection. The whole interior is essentially brand new and finished in the finest materials. The dash is re-trimmed in fine leather whilst critically retaining the original dials and switchgear. The period sports seats are custom trimmed in stunning leather and genuine Spirit of Le Mans Tartan that perfectly complements the exterior The headliner, door panels, rear seat backs and boot are also all custom trimmed to match the rest of the interior. The new carpets are all trimmed in matching leather too and the boot area is equally sumptuous with matching high grade carpets. The final finishing touches include a nappa leather trimmed Prototipo wheel with Alpina centre, Alpina gear selector and a, custom trimmed matching key ring. Technical and mechanical upgrades: Significant investment has also gone into the mechanicals as well the pretty bits with renowned Guru’s Jaymic and BMW supplying the bulk of the parts. The invoices run well north of ten thousand on parts alone. Another well know specialist L.H.O were chosen to under take a full engine rebuild and upgrade to fast road spec including Mahle pistons and a polished and ported head. The clutch, suspension, exhaust and braking systems are all also brand new. The new suspension is poly bushed throughout. The engine bay is beautifully prepared and spotlessly clean. Please call to discuss the upgrades in more detail as there is far too much to list. Underneath: Perhaps even more remarkable than the incredible condition of the paint work and trim is the underside of the vehicle. It is undoubtably better than had had it just rolled straight off the factory floor. Overview: With less than 100 miles covered since completion this really is just “run in” and offers a fantastic route in to restomod modern classic ownership as either a low mileage depreciation proof daily driver, a weekend toy to polish, show and enjoy or perhaps most likely a stunning addition to a collection. This incredible vehicle offers a best of both worlds solution to running a classic car, adding a modern twist to classic looks without the Singer price tag. To replicate this vehicle could easily see a bill for six figures and at least a 2year wait. . The vehicle will be MOT’d and fully service by SMC Heritage prior to collection for complete peace if mind £39,994 Open by appointment only please call us on 01244 539760 or 07890 000145 or 07710 096345 We are always looking for high quality, low mileage classic and modern classic cars and bikes with good service history from the early 60s to the mid 00’s.
