Ref VPC785X SMC Heritage are pleased to offer a very special 1982 Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk1 1.6 5 Speed. Supplied new on the 19th July 1982 by Jack Barclay VW in Battersea, this incredible Mk1 GTI was finished in Alpine white (L90E) with contrasting black and red stripe interior and the iconic Golf ball gear lever. Provenance: Having covered just 119,000 Miles from new this highly desirable 5 Speed early car has undergone a labour of love painstaking restoration and has remained stored within a private collection ever since. It has had a glass out, nut and bolt restoration completed by a full respray in factory finish Alpine white. The interior was overhauled including new carpets and retrimmed seats. Along with body and interior restoration with mechanics were also dealt with, the engine having been fully rebuilt to ensure longevity. The history file contains an incredible bound restoration photo album detailing every action taken, with this there is a custom book which logs the works carried out, receipts dating between 1987 and 2016, most MOTs, Original service book stamped till 1998, Tax discs 1986 to 2001, owners handbook and wallet. Exterior: Post overhaul the vehicle has remained garaged and covered and is consequently in stunning condition with deep glossy paint and taught factory spec shut lines. The signature red grill, a jutting chin spoiler, sill-stripes, black window surrounds (instead of the chrome on lesser models) and plastic spats for the wider wheel
